MATT CARMICHAEL garde manger

Having graduated from the University of Ottawa with a bachelors in Leisure Science, presented a thesis on food and wine as a Canadian touristic resource, and consulted for the Canadian Tourism Commission aiding in incorporating food and wine into domestic and international marketing campaigns, Matt has cultivated a desire to pursue the fine art of food and it's relation to social cultures. To expand on this eductaion, Matt contributed in design and art direction of food and wine promotional material and events in British Columbia, Seattle and Japan. His desires to learn and be inspired by others have brought him to travel. Matt moved to Toronto in March of 2000 to continue his apprenticeship with food, presentation and culture by working with Susur Lee, as the "Food Saver". Currently Matt is collaborating with Robert and Laura to share his skills with PAPERspace studio at the upcoming event, edges.
